 Teddy Bears - A Popular Toy For Both Children and Adults   Entertainment Vintage Teddy bears have become in popularity in the last century. The stuffed bear is easily the most famous kind of stuffed animal. The toy took its name in 1902 when President Theodore 'Teddy' Roosevelt was involved with a bear hunting incident in Mississippi. Roosevelt's hunting party tied a cub to some willow tree. They wanted Roosevelt to shoot it so he might get a kill. Teddy refused to shoot the cub. He known as the act unsportsmanlike but ordered his men to place it of their misery. Clifford Berryman, a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist, drew up a cartoon from the hunting incident. The cartoon showed an adorable black bear tied up with a man and Roosevelt refusing to check out it. More cartoons from the incident were published with every one containing a cuter cub.
